When to Use Water Candling?
Use water candling at the end of the hatch when you have unhatched eggs and are unsure if they are viable after candling. This is a last step before discarding them.
Always candle the eggs first to ensure there is no external pip (a small crack or hole on the shell). Adding externally pipped eggs to water will drown the chick inside.
Will the Chick Be Okay?
By this stage, you’re likely close to giving up on any remaining eggs in the batch. If a chick is destined not to make it, the critical moment has already happened; when you open the incubator, which can cause “shrink wrapping” due to a sudden drop in humidity.
If the egg are showing movement, return it to the incubator and give it another 24–48 hours. Wait for a miracle hatch.
Did the Chick in This Video Hatch?
Yes, it did! Late hatches can happen. It is not necessarily there is something wrong with the chick. The chick hatched is Araucana, and growing strong.

Hope this helps a few out there struggling with end of hatch candling.
